Oct. 3 SE Campus presents a Mental Health Mental Retardation workshop 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. in the Success Center (ESEE 1301). Tarrant County’s MHMR professionals Cathy Stout and James Turnage will speak about behavioral health and psychological first aid. The event is open to the public. Oct. 3 The American Cancer Society will recruit for a long-term prevention study 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in the NTAB lobby on NE Campus. Participants must be between 30 and 65 years old and must have never been diagnosed with cancer. For more information, call health services at 817-515-6692.

Oct. 3 The SE library and the culinary arts, dietetics and hospitality management department present Mommy and Me: Maternal and Infant Nutrition 3-4 p.m. in the Silent Study Area (ESED 1200). Tarrant County Public Health Department assistant breastfeeding coordinator Layne Walker will talk about breastfeeding and maintaining good nutritional health in mothers and their babies throughout the prenatal period. Oct. 5 TR Campus’ Habitat for Humanity will be involved in the annual Cowtown Brush-Up 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Brush-up participants paint homes deteriorating because of financial and physical inability of homeowners to maintain them. The event is open to students, faculty, staff and the public. Oct. 7-10 In celebration of Gay Pride Week, TR Equality in Education will sponsor several events starting with a parade 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday down TR Campus’ Main Street hallway. On Tuesday, Gay Pride pins will be available 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the TREE table on TRTR Main Street. On Wednesday, join TREE’s guest speaker and gay rights activist Mark “Major” Jimenez as he holds a mock same-sex wedding in The Zone at 1 p.m. On Thursday, TREE will host its first ever drag show 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in The Zone.

Oct. 7-11 TR Campus will hold a five-day celebration for its fifth year as a campus. Monday will include a flag raising 9-10 a.m. in front of the Idea Store and a tree planting 10-10:15 a.m. in the Trinity Plaza. Tuesday will include the Taste of TR 2-4 p.m. in the World Lounge. Wednesday will feature a forum, That Was Random: Understanding Student-Faculty Interactions, 6:15-7 p.m. in the Riverfront Café. On Thursday on TRE Campus, a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held noon-1 p.m. as part of the Trinity River connection. Friday will feature its year-five celebration in the Riverfront Café 2-4 p.m. The events are free to all students. Oct. 8 NW Campus’ biannual Community Volunteer Fair invites all students to meet with organizations for prospective volunteering opportunities 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in the WSTU lobby. About 12-15 organizations will attend the event with information on how to volunteer in the future.
