Local reverend to speak

Examples from African-American history will be used Feb. 29 on South Campus to explain the significance of overcoming adversity.

The Rev. R.S. Emerson of the Rising Star Baptist Church in Fort Worth, speaking on I Matter, will also use Scripture to reinforce his belief that individuals matter.

Emerson will explain how members of society frequently do not realize their self-worth on many levels, ranging from the value of a single vote to not pursuing success because no one in the family has. He will demonstrate that through planning, proper execution and perseverance, everyone can achieve beyond expectations.

Part of Black History Month, Emerson’s presentation will begin at 7 p.m. in the SSTU Living Room.
