The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Department will provide current information on drug abuse next week on SE Campus.
Deputy T.D. Trammel will present Drugs: Are You at Risk? 9:35-10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, in the North Ballroom.
“Trammel will tackle various points on the signs of drug abuse in different areas in the city, symptoms of persons under the influence of drugs and keeping non-drug users out of harm’s way,” Joyce Fisher, SE counselor, said.
Fisher said this seminar is designed to alert students about detecting traffic of drug users and unusual behavior that they may exhibit. She also added that if unusual behavior is seen in close proximity, it is very important to report these kinds of activities.
Therefore, students between the ages of 18-25 are urged to attend this event, Fisher said. A few parents of younger children and teenagers will attend as well. Fisher expects approximately 40 to 50 attendees.
Fisher has asked Trammel to address the following questions:
What drugs (meth, ecstasy, prescription drugs) has he observed being used heavily? Where do officers see the greatest drug use: schools, clubs, apartment complexes, homes? What are the dangers from drug abuse, such as traffic accidents or robberies?
Students can find the answers at the free seminar. Reservations are not required.
