NE Fun Run organized to assist area food bank

Runners and walkers should head to NE Campus Friday, April 25, for a Fun Run.

The event is open to students, faculty and staff, and everyone who registers will need to bring two cans of food for donation to a local food bank.

All runners who sign up for the event will need to meet at the track at 12:45 p.m.

The event will include both a 5K and 1-mile run.

The 1-mile is designated as the fun run, in which the runners will compete against a time they set for themselves rather than try to defeat competitors.

“We are getting lots of community participation for this event from places like Panera, Black-Eyed Pea, Subway and Seekers,” Laura Bradford, NE HPE instructor, said. “We will have lots of cool prizes to give away to all participants.”

Instructors are giving their students the opportunity to receive make-up points if they participate, Bradford said.

Registration is due by 12:45 on the day of the event.
