Now-Feb. 29 TR Campus Library is sponsoring its fourth annual book drive. Students, faculty and staff can take new or gently used books to the library (TREF 2302). Children’s books will go to I.M. Terrell Elementary in Fort Worth, and all other books will go to the Friends of Fort Worth Public Library store.
Now-April 15 SE and South campuses will offer free income tax preparation to those with annual incomes under $50,000 through the Volunteer Income Assistance program. Hours are 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, 3-7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday. Feb. 8 NE health services and the National Bone Marrow Donor Registry invite students to Be the Match 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in the NTAB lobby. The registry serves to match potential bone marrow donors to recipients.
Feb. 8 Carter BloodCare will host a blood drive on NE. Students can donate 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the mobile bus parked in front of the Student Center. Donors can get two tickets to a Dallas Stars game for the price of one and enter for a chance to win other Dallas Stars experiences, including a chance to sit in the Stars penalty box during pre-game warmups. A photo ID is required to donate.
Feb. 8 NW Campus career services will host a Community Volunteer Fair 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in the WSTU lobby. Representatives from various organizations will be available to discuss various volunteer opportunities available to students.

Feb. 8 Genetics education lecturer Sam Rhine will speak to NE students about Recent Advances in Cloning and Stem Cell Technologies 6:30-8 p.m. in Center Corner (NSTU 1615A). Rhine will also discuss advances in new machines that can sequence a human genome in 24 hours. Feb. 9 Sexual and Reproductive Health Awareness will be presented by a representative of the Tarrant County health department noon-1 p.m. in the SSTU Forum Room on South Campus. The graphic PowerPoint presentation will include information on sexually transmitted illnesses and a condom skills-building demonstration.

Feb. 10 NW Campus will kick off the S3 = Science Seminar Series with “Let’s Talk Nature: A Discussion about Biomimicry,” a presentation by NW biology professor Ken Griffin, 10:30 a.m.-noon in WTLO 2126. Biomimicry is the study of how nature can solve human issues. Faculty who attend will earn professional development credit, and students are also encouraged to attend. The event is free.
Feb. 10-11 The TR Campus library will offer free Information Literacy classes 1-4 p.m. in the Library Classroom (TREF 1302). This three-hour non-credit course is designed to help students find credible online resources and reference materials. The course is taught by professional librarians, and students will receive a certificate of completion after taking the class.

Feb. 13 SE Campus will host Texas Woman’s University Transfer Day 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in ESED 2315. TWU admissions and registrar representatives can review transcripts, help complete applications and provide on-site admission. The $50 admissions fee will be waived for students who are ready to apply and have all of their official transcripts.
Feb. 13 A Zumba class will be conducted by John Peter Smith Hospital fitness instructor Gracie Martinez 5-6 p.m. in the SHPE gym on South Campus. This is the second class of an eight-week series. Financial expert and author of Moneylicious Ornella Grosz will give a keynote speech on financial literacy 11:30 a.m.-12:50 p.m. Lunch will be provided. Financial advisor Rebecca Turner will share successful financial management secrets during “Millionaire Mindset” at 1 p.m., and SE Campus financial aid services director Erika Williams will present “Financial Aid and You” at 1:45 p.m.

Feb. 16 Barbershop Confession will be held 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the SSTU Texas Room on South Campus. This event will target the relationship between the college and community, especially in relation to men. The panel will discuss and answer questions regarding existing barriers and the need for improvement.
