Feb. 9 NE adjunct music instructor Lewis Pilot will lecture on Music of the Middle Ages and Renaissance 3-3:30 p.m. in NFAB 1104 on NE Campus.
Now-Feb. 12 NE Campus’ Ceramics II class and the NE Campus Association of Potters/Sculptors is sponsoring a ceramic exhibition in the J. Ardis Bell Library. Work will range from beginner to advanced. For many students, this is the first time their work has been shown.
Now–Feb. 15 NW Campus is hosting its first visual art exhibition of the year titled Cera (Wax) showcasing the paintings of Roberto Munguia in the Lakeview Gallery. The one-person exhibit of encaustic paintings includes 25-30 of Munguia’s recent works. Gallery hours are 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday.
Now-Feb. 28 TR Campus is sponsoring a mixed-media art exhibition in the East Fork Gallery. Turn of the Sentry by El Paso artist Angel Cabrales is an interactive installation. The gallery is open during normal school hours.
Feb. 6-March 6 SE Campus will display the work of former NE photography instructor René West in Art Corridor II. René West: rePresentation includes digital archival prints. An opening night reception is scheduled 5-7 p.m. in Corridor II. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday-Saturday.
Feb. 12-13 The TR Drama Club will sponsor a student art gallery on TRTR Main Street 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Media include paintings, sculpture, drawings and photography. Art submissions will be accepted until Feb. 11 with a $5 fee. Some pieces will also be available for purchase. Feb. 13-14 Texas Tech endowed professor of architecture James Watkins will lead a hands-on workshop on alternate firing techniques 9 a.m.-4 p.m. in the ceramics lab (NFAB 1309) on NE Campus. Some techniques covered will include raku, salt fuming, horsehair print and terrasigilata. Observation of the workshop is free, but participation for non-ceramics students is $150. Feb. 14 The NE Campus French Club is showing the movie Chocolat, 7-9:30 p.m. in Center Corner (NSTU 1615A). The dramatic romance stars Johnny Depp and Juliette Binoche. Door prizes will be given.
