Now-March 3 Tickets will be available for the Women’s History Month Luncheon 12:30-1:45 p.m. March 6 in the SSTU Living Room on South Campus. The luncheon is open to the public, and reservations are required. Tickets are $5 for students and $7.50 for nonstudents. Only 80 tickets are available. Now-April 8 Student Leadership Academy sessions will be held 2-4 p.m. every Tuesday in the SSTU Texas Room on South Campus. The sessions will help students develop skills that will support them as leaders on campus, at four-year universities and in the workforce. Feb. 19 The NW Transfer Center will present Transfer Essentials: Campus Professionals, a segment of the NW Transfer Advantage Program 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Michael Saenz Conference Center (WACB 1123). Lunch will be provided. Students are eligible to enter a drawing for a $500 scholarship if they attend three sessions in the program.

Feb. 19 Discover Language Discover the World will be held noon-2 p.m. in the SSTU Living Room on South Campus sponsored by the South language arts department. The event will include presentations, poster sessions and a film.

Feb. 19 NW health services and the Walsh Library will sponsor a heart health awareness event 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Walsh Library. Students and faculty can learn about heart health and a healthy lifestyle and have their blood pressure taken.

Feb. 19 Students are invited to attend I’ve Got the Power! Simple Stress Relief Using Emotional Intelligence, an interactive workshop in SE Campus’ North Ballroom 11:45 a.m.-12:40 p.m. Students can learn how to use their emotional intelligence to combat unwanted emotions and let go of tension. SE counselor Carisa Bustillos-Givens will present.

Feb. 19 A career-planning workshop will take place 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the TR career and employment office. Students can meet department staff and learn to write cover letters, resumes and more. For more information, email administrative assistant Ophelia Bacon at ophelia.bacon@tccd.edu.

Feb. 20 History instructor Andy Hollinger will present Student Leadership Academy: Elements of Leadership 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Galley (NSTU 1506) on NE Campus. Students will learn how to enhance the probability of success in leading socially or professionally.

Feb. 20 South Campus will present Brand U Fashion Wear 2-4 p.m. in the SSTU Living Room. The interactive session will teach students how to dress in and out of the classroom to establish a competitive edge and make a positive first impression. Feb. 21-22, Feb. 27-28, March 1 TR students can learn to properly conduct research in library databases 1-4 p.m. Feb. 21, 9 a.m.-noon Feb. 22, 2-5 p.m. Feb. 27 and 1-4 p.m. Feb. 28 and March 1 in TREF 1302. Feb. 21, 28 Anna Hinman, NW special services coordinator, will present a Mental Health First Aid certification course on NW Campus noon-4 p.m. in WACB 1123. The interactive course is intended to help communities deepen their understanding of mental illness and enable appropriate responses to psychiatric emergencies. Course completers qualify as Mental Health First Aiders. Attendance at both meetings is required for certification. Registration is required because seating is limited. Feb. 28 The second round of the Jim Bolen math competition will be held at 2 p.m. on NE Campus (NTAB 2223), 2 p.m. on NW Campus (WTLO 2114), 1:45 p.m. on South Campus (SNUR 1101), 2 p.m. on SE Campus (ESEE 2314) and 2 p.m. on TR Campus (TRTR 3814). March 1 The NW Campus Walsh Library will host the third annual Walsh Reading Festival 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The event will cater to local elementary schools and will feature storytelling and other activities.
