Anyone interested in learning more about the different programs TCC offers can attend the Success Within Reach Community and High School Showcase March 1.
The showcase will take place simultaneously 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on every campus and at the TCC Opportunity Center.
The showcase will begin on TRTR Main Street on TR Campus, in the SSTU Front Lobby and Living Room on South Campus, ESEC 1102 on SE Campus, WSTU 1303-1305 on NW Campus and NSTU 1615A on NE Campus. The Opportunity Center is located at 5901 Fitzhugh Ave. in Fort Worth.
South Campus career center coordinator Monica Miranda said each campus will focus on its programs as well as provide information on TCC’s admissions process with breakout sessions and tours.
Each campus will start the general sessions by dividing visitors into three categories: high school students, adults visiting with their children or returning to college and Spanish-speaking visitors.
These general sessions will take visitors through the admissions process, introducing them to financial aid, student services, counseling and testing services and business services.
“It’s the same for all five campuses,” Miranda said.
The second session will be more loosely structured. Volunteers will take visitors on tours of different programs specific to each campus.
South Campus, for example, will offer tours as well as live demonstrations of its welding, computer-aided drafting, engineering and electronics technology and automobile programs.
NE Campus will focus on its dental hygiene, emergency medical services and radio/TV/broadcast programs.
NW Campus will have tours through its fire and police academies and aviation facility.
SE Campus will showcase its culinary arts, dietetics, restaurant and hospitality management and CISCO programs.
TR Campus will have tours of its nursing, respiratory care, sign language and radiologic technology programs.
Lunch will be provided at noon, but the program tours will continue until 1 p.m.
College access and community outreach director Noemi Vela said TCC put about 40,000 fliers in 62 Tarrant County high schools as well as libraries, community centers and churches, and high school seniors and juniors were the target audience.
“We have also been sending out emails to students who applied at TCC but never enrolled,” she said.
