Tore Terrasi: Experiments in Typography is on display in the Lakeview Gallery on NW Campus (WFAB 1135A). Terrasi, art assistant professor at the University of Texas at Arlington, explores text through the visual elements of typography, design and poetry. Gallery hours are 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. The gallery is free and open to the public.

South Campus is hosting the Sojourn in the Shadowlands exhibit Monday-Thursday by appointment only in the Carillon Gallery located in the Joe B. Rushing Center for Performing Arts. The artist, Michael Roque Collins, created his pieces after visiting Holocaust sites in Germany. The pieces are meant to depict memories of what happened during the Holocaust by using destruction and nature to evoke thoughts in the viewer. SE Campus presents the Art Faculty Biennial Exhibit 7 a.m.-10 p.m. in Art Corridor II. The collection includes drawings, photographs, video and prints by SE full-time and part-time faculty. Ruth Asawa: Organic Meditations at the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth displays an artistic point of view of nature through lithographs. The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth presents Lucian Freud: Portraits, paintings of his neighbors, friends, family, lovers, royalty and art world personalities. Organized by the National Portrait Gallery in London, this exhibition is the only venue in the U.S. The museum is open 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday-Thursday and Saturday-Sunday and 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $10 for adults, $4 for students with IDs and free for Modern members and children 12 years old and younger. Admission is half-price every Wednesday. The Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth presents Industrial Monuments: Photographs and Works on Paper from the Machine Age. The exhibition showcases photographs, drawings and prints of the American industrial landscape between the early 1910s to the late 1940s. Sept. 20
Gary Lynn Floyd is onstage at the Sammons Center for the Arts in Dallas for the Sammons Cabaret series. The first concert for the season, the singer and songwriter will perform classic cabaret and Broadway numbers. The Fort Worth Contemporary Music Fund presents the Modern Music Festival. The festival includes collaboration from Colombian, Brazilian, American and Argentinian artists, including TCC adjunct piano teacher and artistic director for the Fort Worth Contemporary Music Fund Eduardo Rojas. The concert will start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for general admission, $5 for students and free for children 12 and under. For more information, go to www.fwcmf.org.

The fourth week of the Texas Power 2012 Fall Concert Series is in full swing. The Levitt Pavilion in Arlington presents Killdares Sept. 20, a rock and pop group with Celtic playing skills. Stars Go Dim performs Sept. 21 singing of love and life. And Byron Stripling and the UTA Jazz Orchestra performs Sept. 23. Cas Haley, an America’s Got Talent finalist, and Josh Weathers and the True Endeavors, a Texas soul band, perform at special times 6:30 and 8 p.m. Sept. 22 for EcoFest. The Fifth Sun is onstage at the Rose Marine Theater in Fort Worth. The story of Oscar Romero, archbishop of El Salvador, is in celebration of the Mayan calendar with special collaboration with the Latino Cultural Center of Dallas. The play includes Mayan and Catholic culture, rituals and history. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The Casa Mañana Theatre in Fort Worth presents the classic musical Grease. The show involves mature subject matter and is not suitable for children. A poor dairyman in the small town of Anatevka, Tevye teaches his five daughters the traditions of the Jewish community while battling the social changes of Czarist Russia. Jubilee Theatre in Fort Worth presents Flight. The show portrays the story of an enslaved family on a Georgia plantation in 1858. After a young mother is sold, the enslaved community comes together to comfort and strengthen a father and son left behind. Flight is based on slave narratives and celebrates the African-American oral tradition of passing down stories to younger generations. Showtimes are 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and 3 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. Tickets are $12 opening weekend. Onstage in Bedford presents Always … Patsy Cline. Based on the true story of the friendship between the country music star and Houston housewife Louise Seger, the musical showcases some of Cline’s famous songs. X Marks the Spot is onstage at the Pantagleize Theatre in Fort Worth. A group of pirates lands in North Texas to pillage through the towns. As their mischievous acts ensue, the pirates’ stories and characters will cross and a love story will appear with lots of laughter to follow. Showtimes are 8 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Theatre Northwest will present Night Solos at 7:30 p.m. on the WADM Cinco Palms Stage. The evening performance is approximately an hour and will feature solo artists in dance, drama and music.
