The SE Tigers dominated the SE volleyball tournament as a result of good chemistry and a well-rounded knowledge of the game.
The Tigers went undefeated during the SE volleyball tournament, and in each round of the tournament, wins came easy for the Tigers.
But in the championship game, the Tigers played another undefeated team, the Pink Raiders.
Both the Tigers and the Pink Raiders took turns holding the lead during the game, making it the most exciting game of the tournament.
Since each team was well-rounded on both offense and defense, the game became a challenge for both teams.
Tigers player Cody Robbins defended well at the net, contributing to a series of blocks late in the game to help give his team the lead. And the Tigers closed the game, winning 25-21.
Prior to the beginning of the tournament, the Tigers had never played with each other but managed good teamwork and communication during each game.
Tigers player Laura Winter attributes her team’s chemistry and wins to the history and knowledge they all share of the sport.
SE intramural director Jason Wooten also played in the tournament on the Pink Raiders team.
He said the volleyball tournament in the past has seen a decrease in participation, but it has seen just the opposite this semester.
“ In the past, we offered it, but we later stopped having it for a couple of semesters because of low turnouts,” he said.
“ But for whatever reason, it’s popular now. But it’s nice to see this kind of turnout. It has been great.”
