Dance students showcase talent in Friday recital

The TCC NW Dance Company and Mosaic Dance Project will present Fall into Dance 1 p.m. Friday in WSTU 1303 on NW Campus.

This is the 10th year NW Campus has held this production, and it is the 20th performance since the project began.

The choreography was created by four performing arts faculty members and five students.

“ Our community of dancers range from beginners — first time ever in a dance class — to dancers that have been in class for 20 years or more,” said Amy Ross, NW Campus dance associate professor.

Every semester, the NW Campus dance technique classes receive an opportunity to perform what they have learned. This year the students will showcase ballet, jazz, modern, hip-hop, musical theater, step and African dance styles. The majority of the students will perform more than one style of dance.

Transitioning between two dance styles is like changing an outfit, Ross said.

“ It still fits you the same, but it is different in style, color and accessories,” she said.
