Dance concert offers diversity

Students have many opportunities to see different groups of people perform.

The dance department on South Campus will present a concert Dec. 5-6 7:30 p.m. in the Carillon Theatre of the Joe B. Rushing Performing Arts Center. The concert is free for TCC students, faculty and staff with an ID and $5 for everyone else.

“ This concert has something for everyone — from hip hop to ballet, from salsa to African,” said dance associate professor Gypsy Crane Ingram.

This concert will give students the chance to see fellow students and faculty, as well as the dance department’s sister dance program from Polytechnic High School in Fort Worth.

Ingram said the concert will highlight how much talent South Campus has.

This will be a diverse concert, not only providing diversity among people but also the music and dances, Ingram said.

“ We know that if they will show up at the theater, they will not only have fun, but they will find themselves dancing their way back to their cars after the show,” she said.

A silent auction will be held in the lobby before the show and during intermission. All proceeds from the concert and silent auction will send the dancers to the American College Dance Festival in March.

“ These two nights of dancing showcase the hard work our dance students have put in for the last 14 weeks,” Ingram said.
