NE seminar to explain what college is about

By Jo Bryan/reporter

As part of the Student Success Seminar series, Andrew Hollinger, NE history instructor, will speak on What Is College All About? 12:30-1:30 p.m. Feb. 26 in NE Campus’ Center Corner (NSTU 1615).

“Too many people approach college as being the 13th grade,” Hollinger said. “It’s just something they do because they have nothing else to do.”

What they should realize is that this is the first time they get to put together the plan for the rest of their lives, he said.

“This seminar will help students to put together the academic foundation for their future life, which is the next 50 or 60 years,” he said.

Hollinger will speak about why a degree is important and how it certifies what each student has done to complete a complex project. He will discuss content, process and attitude toward each course and ways students put those requirements together to be successful.

This session will feature questions from the audience.

“Almost everybody in college will benefit from this presentation,” he said.

Lunch will be provided for registered participants. Students can register at http://tccdne.volunteerhub.com.
