Education’s vital role will be focus of South speech

By Tee Townsend

Understanding the benefits of education is what the president and CEO of the Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will present Oct. 12 during Hispanic Heritage Month.

A graduate of Midwestern State and Southern Methodist University, John Hernandez will encourage audience members to continue their educational journey as he reflects on his own personal and educational achievements.

“Motivate and inspire” is how Flor Flores, Hispanic Chamber executive liaison and member helper, describes Hernandez’s presentation theme as he addresses the need for education and provides the audience with insight into pursuing a quality education.

Working since the age of 14 in his father’s upholstery business, Hernandez will explain the tools he used to achieve academic success.

A former small businessman and bank executive, Hernandez is an advocate for stay-in-school initiatives.

The presentation is 11 a.m.-noon in the Jenkins Garrett Library on South Campus.
