NW speaker will highlight crime, prison in session

By — Sarah Young

As a part of its Golden Jubilee Speaker Series, NW Campus will host a presentation on Crime Rates, Prisons, and the Loss of Faith in the Nation’s Institutions Oct. 14.

History associate professor Brian Cervantez, NW government chair Paul Benson and criminal justice associate professor Jason Clark-Miller will discuss crime rates and the U.S. prison system.

Benson, who has been at TCC for 28 years, said he hopes to educate attendees on how “the 1970s was the bleakest decade of the 20th century as we as a nation lost faith not only in our institutions but in ourselves.”

The session will be held in the Walsh Library (WTLO 3100) 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Food and beverages will be provided to all attendees.
