Oct. 14 NW health services will provide free HIV testing 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in WCTS 1151. No appointment is needed, and testing takes 30-45 minutes. For more information, contact health services at 817-515-7672.

Oct. 14 NE’s English department and student activities will host a Poetry Jam 12:30-2:30 p.m. in the Darlage Center Corner (NSTU 1615A). Students interested may submit one original poem of up to 32 lines. Faculty and staff will select poems to be performed by the speech, dance and music department.

Oct. 14 A medical oncologist from the Breast Cancer Center of Excellence will give an interactive presentation on South Campus in the SSTU Forum Room. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session. Drinks and prizes will be provided.

Oct. 14 The NW Walsh Library will continue its Golden Jubilee Speaker Series with faculty members Brian Cervantez, Paul Benson and Jason Clark-Miller presenting Crime Rates, Prisons and the Loss of Faith in the Nation’s Institutions 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in WTLO 3100. Light refreshments will be provided.

Oct. 15-16 The DSS Testing Center on NE Campus will be closed for relocation. It will reopen Oct. 19 in its new location NSTU 1656, which is across the hall from the DSS office.

Oct. 16 The SE Carrier Library will present Woody Guthrie: The Dust Bowl Troubadour 10:40-11:35 a.m. The discussion about the work of musician Woody Guthrie and the way he vocalized those affected by the 1930s drought is a continuation of SE’s Dust, Drought, and Dreams Gone Dry program. Oct. 16, 23 Clinicians from the Center for Brain Health in Dallas will discuss ways to be more productive and less stressed 2-4 p.m. in the advising and counseling center on South Campus.
