NW to hold lunch about diabetes tips

By — Alex Aviles

NW Campus’ health services will introduce the Diabetes Awareness: Learn the Danger of Diabetes luncheon Nov. 9.

Keynote speaker Kristin Geist will discuss topics from prevention to control and management of diabetes noon-1 p.m. in WSTU 1305.

In the last decade alone, diabetes has become more and more prevalent in the United States, but many cases remain undiagnosed.

Geist, inpatient diabetes educator at Baylor All Saints Medical Center, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 1997 and has since aspired to educate youth about avoiding and managing diabetes as it grows at a rapid pace in the U.S. She has trained both new and experienced staff on diabetic caretaking and is a nurse at different camps for children with diabetes.

Administrative assistant Keva Montrose has organized the lunch. To RSVP, contact Montrose at keva.montrose@tccd.edu or 817-515-7672.
