South Campus’ writing center is bringing back its haunted house for a second year Oct. 27-28.
The writing center is hosting two haunted houses: the Haunted Family Forest Area for children and families and then The Butcher Shop for adults.
Learning lab manager Gabrielle Raymond said people coming through should come prepared for a real haunted house.
“For The Butcher Shop, it’s a fully fledged haunted house, which means it’s dark. There’s blood effects, smell effects, fog, heaters and fans. It will be nearly pitch black,” she said. “Almost anything that you would find at Cutting Edge [Haunted House in Fort Worth] is our same sort of disclaimer.”
Because the haunted house received so many positive responses last year, Raymond said the center had to bring it back and make it two nights instead of one.
“Last year, we had so many people that came,” she said. “The first thing students said when they left is that they couldn’t believe it was free, and they couldn’t believe it was a real haunted house.”
The Butcher Shop opens at 7:30 p.m., but guests can start lining up at 7 p.m. The Haunted Forest Family Area is open 6:30-8 p.m. Both are located in the SCLC building. Candy will be given out in the family area, so anyone with allergies needs to use caution. Strobe lights will be a part of The Butcher Shop, so anyone with sensitivity beware.
