NE business assistant professor Randy Saleh will present information Nov. 17 to help students see how essential emotional intelligence is in career success.
The seminar will show students that intelligence is not limited to IQ, which measures one’s ability to learn and usually stays the same throughout a lifetime. According to Frameworks, a nonprofit youth development organization, emotional intelligence is something that one attains over time. Emotional intelligence comes naturally to some while others develop and practice their skills over many years.
Students will learn how important emotional intelligence is to a student’s marketable skills, which include workplace, technical and personal skills.
“Being able to identify one’s marketable skills will help students be able to apply what they already know in ways that seem appealing to potential employers,” student development associate Vicky McCleery said. “Identifying one’s skills is the first step that someone has to take.”
The success seminar will be held 12:30-1:30 p.m. in NSTU 1506A.
Lunch will be provided for students who register on Volunteer Hub. The registration deadline is Nov. 14.
