The NE math and physics lab and TR math tutoring center offer homework help and test preparation resources to TCC students.

Both centers are staffed with part-time and full-time workers who can assist with completing homework or studying for upcoming math tests.

The NE lab aids in all levels of math and physics.

“We offer general self-paced help with just about anything related to math,” NE student worker Mason Hemmick said.

Both the NE lab and TR center offer one-on-one tutoring and the opportunity for group tutoring and help using graphing calculators.

The NE facility is organized between students needing physics assistance and those needing math help.

The TR math tutoring center offers homework assistance specifically for TCC math students.

“We offer help to students starting with developmental math all the way up to upper-level math classes,” TR instructional assistant Kevin Kluck said.

The NE math and physics lab is not limited to only TCC students.

“The center can also be used by nonstudents, too,” teaching associate Paul Marsh said, “such as people trying to get their GED.”

NE student Shelby Withers found it beneficial to her GPA.

“The tutors were very helpful, and going to the math lab gave me the opportunity to clarify what was gone over in class,” she said. “The math lab is a helpful environment that allows a somewhat scary subject to be less frightening.”

Both centers offer desktop computers with the appropriate course software. The centers are also equipped with large desks and table space for groups to gather or for students to use their own laptops.

Students are encouraged to bring their own calculators, pencils and books, but both labs offer these tools for students to use in the lab if they have a TCC student ID.

The NE lab is located in NTAB 2204 and open 7 a.m.-9:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m.-4:45 p.m. Friday and Saturday. For more information, call the lab at 817-515-6753.

The TR center is in TRTR 4829 and open 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call the center at 817-515-1336.
