Author Max Krochmal will be in the Tahita Fulkerson Library noon-1 p.m. on TR Campus to discuss his book Blue Texas, which tells the story of the decades-long struggle for democracy in Texas as African-American, Mexican-American and white labor and community activists gradually came together to empower the state’s minority groups. Now-March 21 South’s campus and community outreach will hold free marriage and relationship workshops 5:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays on the SSTU second floor. Feb. 22 Free, confidential HIV testing will be provided by MHMR of Tarrant County on TR Campus 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in health services (TREF 1312A). Appointments are encouraged but not needed. Feb. 22 NE veterans counselor Christopher Hunt will conduct an ASK Gatekeeper training 12:30-2 p.m. in the Community Room (NBSS 1103). This training aims to teach people to recognize suicide risk factors and proper channels and the means to use in handling those situations.

Feb. 22 The NW Campus academic learning center will hold a writing workshop at 10 a.m. in WACB 1101. Students will learn how to use APA style formatting in academic writing. Feb. 22 South’s Kinesiology Student Organization will host Caitlin Hendler, a cardiac rehabilitation specialist, noon-1 p.m. in the SHPE Gym. All students are welcome.

Feb. 22 South’s math and natural science division will present Dream Big: Challenges in Deep Oil and Gas Well Exploration 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the SSTU Dining Hall. Students can hear Richard A. Sukup, president of Magnolia Global Energy, speak. It is free to attend, and lunch will be provided.

Feb. 22-23 TR Campus will hold the North Texas University Transfer Fair. Universities from across North Texas will be available to answer questions regarding admissions and scholarships 10 a.m.-2 p.m. This free event is open to all students and will be held in the Discovery Center (TRTR 3102).

Feb. 23 NE student activities and Phi Theta Kappa chapter will sponsor Student Leadership Academy #4: Different Types of Conflict 6-7 p.m. in NSTU 1506. Feb. 24 Today’s Economy and Its Discontents student lecture will be held 9:35-10:35 a.m. in the Riverfront Cafe on TR Campus with a faculty/staff lecture 11 a.m.-noon in the WIN conference room (TRTR 4030). Harvard economics professor Gregory Mankiw will speak about his research and writing in the field of economics. Faculty and staff must register for the second lecture at http://www.cvent.com/8vq600. March 1 The UNT Eagle Landing Event will be hosted by the University of North Texas 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Riverfront Cafe on TR Campus.
