Feb. 9 NE Campus will host the Genetic Update Conference 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in Center Corner (NSTU 1615A). The event presented by Sam Rhine will provide 30-minute updates throughout the morning conference. From 6-7:30 p.m., Rhine will present Recent Advances in Stem Cells Technology and Regenerative Medicine. The event is free for TCC students.
Feb. 9 TR Campus will host Easy Research: Get it Done and Get On With Your Life!, part of the CAS Lunchtime Workshop Series. Danelle Ellis, assistant director of library services, will present at noon in the Discover Room (TRTR 3102).
Feb. 9 The NE Career and Employment Services Open House will be 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in NSTU 1625. Students will receive information about employment services and aid offered. Door prizes will be available along with refreshments.

Feb. 9 Carter BloodCare will conduct a blood donor drive 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on South Campus. A mobile unit will be on the outside patio of the SSTU Student Center. Donors will receive snacks.
Feb. 9 The National Marrow Donor Program sponsored by South health services will set up a registry table 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the hallway outside of SSTU Living Room on South Campus.
Feb. 10 Sherree Bennett from the American Heart Association will discuss ways to use nutrition and exercise to prevent heart disease at the Going Red for Women luncheon, sponsored by NW Campus health services, 12:30-1:30 p.m. in WACB 1123. Feb. 10 South Campus will hold the Robert Davis Essay Contest. Final deadline for submission is 4 p.m. Entrants must be enrolled in at least one class on South Campus during the spring 2011 semester. Submission forms can be found in SSTU 1105B. Prizes will be awarded Feb. 28 at the closing ceremony of Black History Month.
Feb. 10 SE Campus will present Suicidal Ideation 10-11:20 a.m. in ESEC North Ballroom. The event is free for TCC students. The presentation will review statistics related to suicide within the college student population. For more information, contact Michael Eason at 817-515-3582.
Feb. 10-11 SE Campus has rescheduled its Club Expo 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Main Commons. Representatives from various SE organizations will answer questions about their clubs.
Feb. 10-14 SE Campus will host a Valentine’s Day Shopping Spree in the Main Commons 9 a.m.-2 p.m. (4 p.m. Monday). Student organizations will sell stuffed animals, candy hearts and other Valentine merchandise. Profits will go to the organizations.
Feb. 11 Postponed. The NW Campus Sadie Hawkins Dance originally scheduled for this date has been postponed. A new date and time will be announced later.
Feb. 12 Danelle Ellis, TR library services assistant director, will give an encore presentation of Easy Research: Get it Done and Get On with Your Life!, part of the CAS Lunchtime Workshop Series. The presentation starts at noon in the TRTR Discover Room.
Feb. 12 Susan Bragg will present Fall Seven Times, Stand Up Eight! at the Women in New Roles Network meeting 12:30-2 p.m. at the Ol’ South Pancake House in Fort Worth. Bragg has worked with battered women, trauma victims and troubled youth. The meeting is free, but guests must buy their own meal.
Feb. 14 TR Campus will dedicate a tree of tolerance, symbolizing the campus’ commitment to respect and acknowledge the contributions and needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning and allied students. The dedication will be at 12:30 p.m. in TRTR Trinity Plaza on TR Campus.
Feb. 14 The SE Campus will present Body Image presented by Susan Cruise, distance learning coordinator. Body image is something all college students think about whether positively or negatively, so Cruise will discuss the influence it has on individuals. The event will be 10:40-11:35 a.m. in ESEC North Ballroom.
Feb. 14-18 TR Campus will recognize Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Week with a display of gallery posters of TR gay/straight unity on TREF Main Street. The library will offer an exhibit of books and films addressing LGBTQA issues.
Feb. 15 South counselor Annie Dobbins will present How to Take a Test and Pass 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the SSTU Forum Room on South Campus. Dobbins will share tips with students to help them successfully pass their exams.
Feb. 15 Rachael Fournier, financial aid associate, will present Money Management — FAFSA and Financial Aid, a Discovery Center lunchtime workshop, noon-1 p.m. in Discover Room (TRTR 3102) on TR Campus.
Feb. 15 Anxiety and Depression, a student success seminar, will take place 5:30-6:50 p.m. in ESEC North Ballroom on SE Campus. SE counselor Michael Eason will discuss how to recognize the symptoms of depression among college students. Treatment options for depressive illnesses and community resource information will be available.
Feb. 16 Stacy Lueking, physical education instructor, will present Time Management, part of the Discovery Center lunchtime workshop series, noon-1 p.m. in Discover Room (TRTR 3102) on TR Campus.
Feb. 16 Career center coordinator Monica Miranda will present Résumé Writing: Does Your Résumé Say ‘Hire Me’? Miranda will provide students with writing exercises to help them sharpen their job-hunting skills. The workshop will take place 1-2 p.m. in the SSTU Texas Room on South Campus.
Feb. 16 Justin Brumit, associate professor of English, will present a review of A Genealogy of Queer Theory. The brown bag faculty lecture begins at noon in TREF 1402 on TR Campus.
Feb. 17 Center for academic success coordinator Chris Carcerano will present Academic Communication: How to Talk to Faculty. The presentation will take place 12:30-2 p.m. in SACA 1120 on South Campus.
Feb. 17 TREE Panel Discussion, a forum addressing the status of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning and allied youth in the community will be held 3-5 p.m. in Action Room (TRTR 4202) on TR Campus. The forum features community members Dr. Stephen Sprinkle, Brite Divinity School; Dr. Carlos Vasquez, Fort Worth ISD; Carol West, Celebration Community Church; Tom Anable, Fairness Fort Worth; and Marcy Paul, YWCA.
Feb. 17 Balancing School With Life will be 12:30-1:30 p.m. in NSTU Center Corner on NE Campus. Jeniesa Johnson, assistant professor of health sciences, will tell students how to cope with an overwhelming schedule and how to effectively manage time and still have room for fun. The seminar is free for students, and a light lunch will be served.
Feb. 18 Al Duncan, motivational speaker for at-risk youth and young people, will present Leadership eXperience Summit Leading Diversity: From Then to Now 1-4 p.m. in Action A (TRTR 4202) on TR Campus. Additional presenters include TCC personnel Steven LeMons, Mike Baumgardner, Sophia Garcia and Robin Birt.
