Students will model stylish, professional outfits appropriate for interviews and business meetings. A skit will follow the fashion show to illustrate what not to do when meeting with employers. Feb. 13 SE health services will offer HIV/AIDS testing 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the health center (ESEC 2118). The screening is free for students and takes about 10 minutes.

 

Feb. 13 Operating a Vegetarian Food Truck will be presented noon-1 p.m. in

 

the SE library. Executive chef Christina MacMicken from Good Karma Kitchen will talk about what it is like to own and run a food truck that serves a gourmet healthy cuisine. Good Karma Kitchen aims to promote a balanced, holistic lifestyle by providing high-quality food while educating customers on healthy, vegetarian and gluten-free living.

 

Feb. 13-14 SE student activities hosts a Valentine’s Day Shopping Spree 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in the Main Commons. SE student organizations will raise money by selling items students, faculty and staff can buy for Valentine’s gifts.

 

Feb. 14 The Bone Marrow Donor Registry will be on NE Campus 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in the NTAB lobby. The national bone marrow donor program needs a diverse group of donors since patients are most likely to match someone who shares their racial and ethnic background. Only a tissue swab from inside the participant’s cheek is needed. Cash donations are also welcome. Donors must be 18 and 60 and willing to donate to any patient in need. Feb. 14 NE career services will hold an open house branding workshop The BRAND Is You! — Personal Branding Tips 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Career Center (NSTU 1625). Students can learn techniques for branding themselves to potential employers or just stop by and learn what NE career services can offer students in general. Feb. 14 SE Campus presents How Smart Students Build Wealth 11:30 a.m.-12:50 p.m. in the North Ballroom. Guest speaker Jamie Grant, owner of JDG Wealth Management, will tell students about the keys to smart money management and building wealth for their futures. Feb. 14 SE health services and student support services present Sexual Coercion and Date Rape 11-11:45 a.m. and 1-1:45 p.m. in ESEE 1301. Amy Suffield from the Women’s Center will discuss the types of sexual coercion and date rape as well as risk reduction and steps to take in such an event. Feb. 14 The NE Student Leadership Academy’s Conflict Resolution will run 12:30-1:30 p.m. in Center Corner (NSTU 1615). Students can learn about positive reactions and methods for dealing with conflict.

Feb. 19 SE health services and Carter BloodCare is sponsoring a blood drive 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the North Ballroom. Students donating should weigh at least 110 pounds and be at least 17 years of age. Feb. 19 Eddie Brassart, TR student development associate, will facilitate the Lunchtime Workshop this week. As a driving force behind the student club life on TR, Brassart will discuss the ways students can network and stay connected with other students and faculty members and build relationships. Feb. 21 SE business and career services presents Mock Interview Day 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the North Ballroom. Faculty, staff and business industry members will conduct mock interviews with students. The event will have two sessions: individual interviews 10-11 a.m. and group interviews 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Interviewers will rate the interviewees and give feedback to the students. Feb. 21 NE Campus will host Credit Basics 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in College Hall (NCAB 1111). The session will explain how borrowers can use future income for large purchases like education or homes. Feb. 21 TR students will be asked to turn off their phones for just a couple hours over a lunchtime picnic on TR Campus. The Dare to Disconnect picnic 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. serves students free lunch and refreshments on the patio outside the Transfer Center (TRTR 1020) but requires all social electronic devices be switched off or put away. For humorous measure, device police will patrol.

 

Feb. 21 SE Campus will present a Monnig Meteorite Gallery presentation 2:30-3:30 p.m. in the North Ballroom. TCU’s gallery educator Nona Batiste will talk about meteorites and bring samples for students to see. For more information, call the SE library at 817-515-3081.

 

Feb. 22 The TR student leadership center will host a Leadership eXperience Summit 1-4 p.m. in the Action Suite (TRTR 4202). Leadership and Motivation will feature guest motivational speaker James “Bird” Guess and focus on five principles of being a successful leader.
