ART

Now-Feb. 28 The Photography Faculty and Staff Biennial Exhibit is on display 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday in College Hall (NCAB 1111) on NE Campus. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

Now-March 7 NE Campus’ art department presents Breathing Air Squeezing Clay in the J. Ardis Bell Library. The ceramics show includes work from advanced students in all ceramics classes. The work is on display Monday-Sunday during library operating hours.

Feb. 21-March 22 Artist Letitia Huckaby’s exhibit Redress, a collection of photo works and illustrations, will be in Art Corridor II on SE Campus. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday-Saturday. An artist reception will be 4-7 p.m. Feb. 21 in Corridor II. DANCE

Feb. 22 The NE Movers Unlimited Touring Company will hold the Dancing for Dollars dance-a-thon 12:30-3:30 p.m. in the dance studio (NHPE 2105) on NE Campus. Members will dance the entire three-hour period for the pledges they receive to help raise money for the charity Dancers Responding to AIDS. THEATER

Now-Feb. 24 Theatre Northwest presents The Emperor’s New Clothes, the story of an emperor who orders two con artists posing as the finest weavers in the land to create a magical cloth that only the wise can see. Performances are 10 a.m. Wednesday-Friday, 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Now-Feb. 24 Jubilee Theatre in Fort Worth presents Black Pearl Sings, a theatrical experience starring Liz Mikel as Alberta “Pearl” Johnson, a woman separated from her daughter when imprisoned for a crime of passion. Pearl’s voice rings through the halls of a Texas prison and inspires the fascination of a song collector. Performances are 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and 3 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. Now-Feb. 24 The Fort Worth Community Arts Center will host the Stolen Shakespeare Guild, who will present The Winter’s Tale. One of Shakespeare’s last plays, it combines intensity and whimsy. Performances are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Feb. 24. Ticket prices are $17 for adults, $16 for seniors 65 and older and students with ID and $10 for children 12 and under. Now-March 16 The Artisan Center Theater in Hurst presents Thoroughly Modern Millie, a musical set in New York City in 1922 and filled with frisky flappers and dashing leading men. Now-March 16 The Artisan Center Theater in Hurst presents Pinkalicious, a musical about a girl who turns pink from head to toe after eating too many pink cupcakes. Performances are 10 a.m. Saturdays and 4:30 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays. Additional 10 a.m. performances will be Tuesday, March 5, and March 9-16. Ticket prices are $7 for adults and $5 for children. Feb. 21-23 South Campus’ drama department will perform the August Wilson play Two Trains Running, which explores the radical changes that occur to the main characters as the ’60s reach an end. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $6 for general public, $3 for seniors and non-TCC students and free to TCC students, faculty and staff. The theater allows no late seating. Feb. 27-March 2 The NE Playhouse presents a modernized, beach-style production of Shakespeare’s Love’s Labour’s Lost, a comedy about a king who has sworn off romantic involvement only to fall in love. Performances are 7 p.m. with a 2 p.m. Saturday matinee in the NFAB theater. Tickets are free for TCC students, faculty and staff, $6 for general public and $3 for seniors and non-TCC students. MUSIC

Feb. 21 The Sonata Club and the NE music department will co-host a Czech piano recital featuring pianist David Yeomans. The concert will showcase music that has had considerable influence on the more familiar composers of the 19th and 20th centuries. The performance will begin with coffee served at 9:30 a.m. and will end at 10:50 a.m. in College Hall (NCAB 1111). This recital is free and open to the public. Feb. 21 The Sammons Center for the Arts in Dallas presents Hunter Sullivan in Concert at Sammons Cabaret, the vocals of Sullivan accompanied by a pianist to create Frank Sinatra-style music. The performance is 8-10 p.m., and doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $40 and include free parking, coffee, beer, soft drinks, wine and light snacks. Early reservations are strongly recommended. Feb. 26 About 15-20 piano duet teams who earned a rating of “superior plus” in the Sonata Club Duet Piano Festival will perform at the Honors Recital at 7:30 p.m. in Center Corner (NSTU 1615) on Feb. 26. March 1 A string ensemble performance will feature a Rite of Strings concert at 5 p.m. and the presentation String Music Through the Centuries at 7 p.m. in College Hall (NCAB 1111) on NE Campus. Now-March 7 The TR Drama Club is currently holding auditions for a talent show production. Students wanting to display their artwork, musical skills, dance sequences, acting or artistic creations are welcome to bring their submissions to the Riverfront Café on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at noon and 3 p.m. The final production will showcase March 28-30.
