Simple Stress Relief Using Emotional Intelligence 9:35-10:30 a.m. in the North Ballroom. Guest speaker Carisa Bustillos will talk to students about ways to use emotional intelligence to rid tension and pressure and to be “heart smart.”
Feb. 20 NE Campus’ student leadership academy presents Cultural Competence 11 a.m.-noon in the Galley (NSTU 1506). This program will introduce students to the idea of cultural competence and have them share their experiences.
Feb. 20 Self-Love and Self-Esteem Lead to Self-Empowerment will be presented by NW counselor Lilia Covio-Calzada 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in College Hall (NCAB 1111) on NE Campus. The workshop will focus on feelings: where they come from and how to handle and express them appropriately. Participants will also learn to recognize twisted thinking patterns and self-train to think in a brand new way.

Feb. 21 TR students will be asked to turn off their phones for just a couple hours over a lunchtime picnic on TR Campus. The Dare to Disconnect picnic 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. serves students free lunch and refreshments on the patio outside the Transfer Center (TRTR 1020) but requires all social electronic devices be switched off or put away. For humorous measure, device police will patrol.
