Video on South to show realities of violence, abuse

An educational session on domestic abuse and violence will be held March 5 in the SSTU Texas Room on South Campus.

Open to the public, a viewing of the video Telling Amy’s Story will be shown 11 a.m.-noon, followed by a panel discussion.

Released in 2010, Telling Amy’s Story shows the timeline of events surrounding a 2001 domestic violence case that resulted in the death of Amy Homan McGee. Detective Deirdri Fishel narrates the timeline as Amy’s family, friends and co-workers share a unique perspective on what led to her murder, and the things they now know they should have looked for that could have prevented it.

Rose Marie Brant, victim assistance coordinator for TCC police on South, will facilitate the viewing and the panel discussion.

Sponsored by the Women’s History Month Committee, Telling Amy’s Story is being screened as part of the Women in New Roles Seminar Series in honor of Women’s History Month.
