NW job fair to open up possibilities

Students can attend a job fair 10 a.m.-1 p.m. March 26-27 in the WTLO lobby on NW Campus.

Formal attire is recommended but not required, and all TCC students are welcome.

Student development attendant Alisha Machal, who is organizing the fair, said students should prepare a short “elevator speech” for prospective employers.

“An elevator speech is basically a 15-to-30 second sales pitch in which the person tries to sell themself to the employer,” Machal said.

Twenty or more employers will attend the fair on each day for a total of 40 to 50 different tables.

Administrative office assistant LuAnn Krey, who organized the fair in previous years, said the fair had to be split into a two-day event.

“We had so many, we needed to make it two days,” she said. “It shouldn’t be different. It does give students who can’t come one day to come the next, and if they miss a certain employer, they can come to career services for information.”
