Feb. 6 The AIDS Outreach Center will be on NE Campus for free confidential HIV and syphilis testing 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in NSTU 1704A. Walk-ins are permitted on a first-come, first-served basis. Students will receive the results via appointments within a week in health services.
Feb. 6 The SE library will offer TCC Gmail Training 2-3 p.m. in the library classroom (ESED 1211). Students will see a presentation and receive training in how to use their student email accounts effectively.
Feb. 6 SE student activities presents Veterans Untold Stories 2:20-3:40 p.m. in the Campus Conference Center. Vets on campus tell their stories about their experience in the military. Refreshments will be served.
Feb. 6 The Science of Happiness will be presented 2-3 p.m. in WACB 1123 on NW Campus by vice president of student development services Joe Rode. The workshop will examine recent studies about the nature of happiness.
Feb. 6-7 SE career services will host a Service Learning Fair 9-11 a.m. Feb. 6 and noon-2 p.m. Feb. 7 in the Main Commons. Nonprofit organizations such as the Arlington Public Library, the River Legacy Living Science Center and the JPS Health Network will recruit volunteers for their spring and summer activities. Feb. 7 Dual Diagnosis is a mental health session organized by TCC’s mental health and continuing education departments. The program is open to students as well as licensed professionals 1-4 p.m. in Center Corner (NSTU 1615) on NE Campus. Dr. Nishend Vasavanda and counselor Jim Savage will explain what a dual diagnosis is, how to identify it and how to treat it. Three contact hours will be awarded to licensed professionals who register for the professional section. A light lunch will be provided. Feb. 11 A free lunch will be served during the lunchtime workshop noon-1 p.m. in the Discover Room (TRTR 3102). This week’s topic is about career choices. Students can learn about the decision-making process and learn how to choose their careers carefully. As a part of the Ready, Set, PLAN! workshop series, this workshop will focus on student success, planning and commitment.
Feb. 11-12 The TR Drama Club will host a Valentine’s Day fundraiser selling real and artificial flowers, brownies, cookies, decorated baskets of candy and bottled poems. Students can buy their loved ones goodies noon-3 p.m. outside of the Riverfront Café on TRTR Main Street. Proceeds will be divided between the Drama Club and charity.

Feb. 14 The Bone Marrow Donor Registry will be on NE Campus 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in the NTAB lobby. The national bone marrow donor program needs a diverse group of donors since patients are most likely to match someone who shares their racial and ethnic background. The technicians need only a tissue swab from inside the participant’s cheek to get a donor into the registry. Cash donations are also welcome.
