As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, Guafa Trio will perform on SE Campus Sept. 27.
The Latin American classical music group that creates a distinctly Colombian sound will perform 10-11:45 a.m. in the North Ballroom.
Student development associate Amy Staley said the group’s genre is acoustic, folk and roots.
Assistant professor of Spanish Ivan Miño recommended the trio because they performed at TCC previously and were mesmerizing.
“They are all musically educated,” he said. “They have performed internationally and have traveled through many, many countries.”
Miño said the trio combines rhythms like folk and symphony.
Also, many people have not experienced the sound of the cuatro, a stringed instrument smaller than a guitar, he said.
“The sound comes from the very deep inside of Colombia,” he said. “We are very privileged to have them.”
