The NE Campus percussion musicians are looking to beat their drums.
On Oct. 7, students are welcome to watch and listen to the NE percussion ensemble play their instruments in the NFAB theater.
The free show starts at 7:30 p.m.
“We are planning on doing at least four pieces,” said instructor Warren Dewey. “But if there is enough time, we might do a fifth piece.”
Part of the performance will be set to centuries-old songs from West Africa that have been passed down through generations. The second portion of the performance will be Afro-Cuban music from Stephen Primatic, composer and the director of percussion studies at Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, Ga., Dewey said.
