Runners and walkers can get their wobble on as South Campus hosts its annual Gobble Wobble Nov. 16.
The 5K race benefits the Tarrant Area Food Bank and the TCC Foundation’s student scholarship program.
The race will start at 8:30 a.m., so runners will need to arrive with plenty of time to warm up beforehand.
“We are expecting a big crowd of 250-300 runners this year,” said South physical education instructor Tim Johnson.
Participants must register in the SHPE building. The event is open to students, staff and the general public. The students and staff can register free with a donation of five nonperishable canned food items per registrant.
“Everyone will need to be sure to register for the race in advance,” Johnson said.
Although there will not be a registration on the day of the event, runners who have not registered will not be turned away if they show up by 7:30 a.m., he said.
The registration fee for non-TCC participants is $15 plus five nonperishable canned food items. A group registration is also available for five runners at a $5 discount with a donation of 20 canned goods.
Registrants will need to visit the SHPE building 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Nov. 14 or 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 15 to pick up their packets, which include their race numbers.
Those who registered before Nov. 2 are guaranteed to receive a T-shirt. Anyone who registers after that date is not guaranteed to receive a shirt or one in their size, Johnson said.
The top three finishers in each of the age and gender groups will receive prizes.
“This is a great way to get involved and give back to the community while also getting some exercise,” Johnson said.
