April seems as though it will be a busy month for TCC’s health centers as NE sponsors a marrow donor drive, AIDS testing and a blood drive while NW holds a blood drive.
The Bone Marrow Drive will be Wednesday, April 16, 9 a.m -3 p.m. in the NTAB lobby. Many patients desperately need marrow transplants to stay alive. This drive presents an opportunity to help save someone’s life. Donors must be between the ages of 18 and 60, be willing to donate to any patient and meet all health guidelines.
AIDS testing will also be available April 16, 10 a.m. 2 p.m. in NSTU 1704. The testing is free and will provide immediate results for students with risk factors such as having had unprotected sex, having multiple partners, having shared needles or razors and having a tattoo or piercing with the use of an unclean needle. Appointments are suggested for this event. To make an appointment, call 817-515-6056.
The Fuel for Life Blood Drive on NE also will be April 16, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. between the flagpole and the chessboard. Anyone who gives blood will be eligible to win a $100 gas card. Though reservations are not required, those who have appointments will be taken first. All donors should be sure to have a good meal and drink plenty of fluids before donating.
Anyone who has questions regarding any of the events should contact Pat Marling at 817-515-6222.
NW Campus students can donate blood from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in WSTU 1303-05. The NW drive is cosponsored by the NW health services office and the Carter Blood Center of Fort Worth.
