With finals beginning Saturday, students have only a couple of days left to fully prepare for their examinations. Many are using methods they have used throughout the semester to help them.
“Getting together with friends to study really helps,” Jennifer Mojica said.
Mojica, like other college students, formed a study group with classmates in an attempt to improve test grades in her anatomy and physiology class.
Days before every test, Mojica meets with fellow classmate Maude Smith to review material learned in class.
“We ask each other questions and review our notes, and if we’re confused about something we’ll ask someone within our group who knows,” Smith said.
Like many college students, Mojica and Smith did not know each other prior to attending their anatomy class, but together they formed a study group to help relieve to anxiety caused by exams.
“It’s very stressful getting ready for the final,” Smith said, “but I’m still studying trying to prepare myself.”
Mojica and Smith said working in groups helps with remembering and staying focused.
“With peer studying, I feel more confident about the final exam and also more focused,” Mojica said.
Mojica and Smith have been studying endlessly for the last two weeks to prepare themselves.
“It’s just so much to take in, and it helps to have someone to help you understand the material,” Mojica said.
