Seven players battled it out Feb. 19 to win the title of pingpong champion of NE Campus, but last year’s champion retained his title.
Most of the players were new to the game, and it was their first attempt at tournament-style play.
“I’ve only ever played with friends before,” said NE student Ivan Duran. “It’s pretty challenging to play against people with different skill levels.”
After several rounds of play, the final match came down to Duran and NE student Tim La.
Duran put up a good fight, but in the end, it was La who walked away with the title after winning three games to Duran’s two.
“I’ve had a lot of experience playing, but it’s always fun to go up against other people,” La said.
