Sept. 7
NW student organizations and student activities present Club Fest 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 5-6 p.m. in the NW Theatre lobby. Student organizations will provide information about their groups and talk to students interested in joining. Student activities will provide free popcorn and drinks.

 

Sept. 7
SE math/physics department will provide an order of operations workshop 8:30-9:20 a.m., a factoring workshop 10:40-11:30 a.m., an arithmetic workshop 1-1:50 p.m. and signed numbers workshops 12:50-1:40 p.m. and 5:30-6:20 p.m. The workshops will be held in ESCT 3205.

 

Sept. 7
South Campus will host What is a Learning Disorder 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. in the Texas Room (SSTU 2208). NE counselor Anita Peters will give an overview of learning disabilities and explain how individuals who simply learn differently can be successful in college and in life.

 

Sept. 7
SE health services will offer a limited quantity of free HIV/AIDS tests 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in ESEC 2118.

 

Sept. 7-8
SE Campus career services, located in ESEE 2301A, will host an open house 9-11 a.m. and 2-4 p.m. to provide students an opportunity to meet the staff and learn about available resources. Refreshments will be served.

 

Now-Sept. 10
TR Campus will hold Survival Week to promote tutoring resources and offer small seminars in basic subjects in TRTR 3102. The full schedule is science at noon and math at 12:30 Wednesday, writing at noon and reading at 12:30 Thursday, reading at noon and writing at 12:30 Friday and math at 11:30, writing at noon and reading at 12:30 Saturday. Prizes, including shirts and gift cards to Sonic and Best Buy, and refreshments will be available throughout the week.

 

Sept. 7-16
The NE English and art departments will host an exhibit of artistic responses to the 10th anniversary of 9/11. The exhibit will be on display in College Hall (NCAB 1111) and is open to students, faculty and staff. An official observance ceremony will be held at 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sept. 7. SE math/physics department will hold a laws and exponents workshop 8:30-9:20 a.m. in ESCT 3205.

 

Sept. 8
The American Red Cross and South Campus health services will hold a blood drive 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the free speech area.

 

Sept. 8-13
Two walls will be set aside to remember 9/11, one in TRTR Main Street across from the coffee shop and one in TR East Campus facing the plaza. Students can post cards and write thoughts and prayers on the wall for the 10th anniversary of the attacks.

Sept. 9
A remembrance walk at TR will begin at 8:30 a.m. for the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. The walk will take students from the East Campus plaza to the Idea Center on the main campus.

 

Sept. 9
TCC Criminal Justice Training Center will host the 9/11 Memorial Run at 6 a.m. in the FSTC fire tower on the NW Campus. Cadets from several agencies will go up and down a five-story tower 22 times in memory of those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001.

 

Sept. 9
A ceremony in remembrance of 9/11 will be held at 8:30 a.m. on NE campus at the flagpole in the visitor’s parking lot located between the Administration Building and the Student Center. Music will be provided by the NE music department.

 

Sept. 9
Steps of remembrance will begin at 8:46 a.m. in the Main Commons on SE Campus. The walk up two flights of stairs will be in consideration of all who were and are affected by the events of Sept. 11, 2001. A pin will be given to participants in remembrance of Sept. 11, 2011.

SE math/physics department will sponsor a Solving Equations/Inequalities workshop 12:45-1:35 p.m. in ESCT 3205.

 

Sept. 10
During India 2012 and the Plight of Women, Triesha Light, South Women in New Roles coordinator, will share her personal reflections from a recent trip to India. The seminar will be 12:30-2 p.m. It will be at the Ol’ South Pancake House, 1509 S. University in Fort Worth. Attendees are encouraged to arrive by 12:30 p.m. to allow time for ordering. SE Campus career services will have Resumania 9-11 a.m. and 2-4 p.m. on the second floor E wing bridge area. The event will provide assistance with résumé development and review.

 

Sept. 12-16
TR Campus will hold a Faculty and Students Together program. Students can bring a faculty member to the Student Life Center and get a voucher for a free lunch.

SE math/physics department will hold a signed numbers workshop 8:30-9:20 a.m. in ESCT 3205.

 

Sept. 13
TR Campus’ Lunchtime Workshop will kick off noon-1 p.m. in the Discover Room with Managing Reading Assignments and Life! presented by reading instructor Christi Duque. Students can participate in one or several seminars during the NW Campus Student Success Conference. Sessions are 8:30, 9:30 and 11 a.m. both days. TR Campus’ Lunchtime Workshop will feature Kristin Vinson-Wright’s seminar on how to get ready for the job fair noon-1 p.m., which will be held the next day. Vinson-Wright, coordinator of TR career and employment services, put the job fair together. Students may call Stevie Blakely at 817-515-1330 for more information.

 

Sept. 14-15
SE Campus will host a service learning fair 9 a.m.-noon Sept. 14 and 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 15 in the main commons. Non-profit agencies will be looking for volunteers.

 

Sept. 15
A job fair will be held 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in Main Street on TR Campus. Students are encouraged to dress in professional attire and bring at least 40 resumes. Companies in attendance will include Radio Shack, the Texas Rangers and Wells Fargo among many others. Students may call Kristin Vinson-Wright at 817-515-1325 for more information.

 

Sept. 16
TR Campus staff will hand out pocket-sized copies of U.S. Constitution and Interesting Facts About It in celebration of Constitution Day. The books are first-come, first-served.

SE Campus celebrates Constitution Day. Students can pick up a free copy of the Constitution 9-11 a.m. in the Bistro.

 

Sept. 16
NE student activities will sponsor Constitution Day: A Focus on Civil Rights. Speakers will discuss minorities in the civil rights movement 11:15 a.m.-12:10 p.m. in the NSTU cafeteria.

 

Sept. 17
NE health services and AIDS Outreach will sponsor free confidential HIV and syphilis testing 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in NSTU 1704A (health services). Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are encouraged. For more information, call 817-515-6056.
