SE Campus begins Hispanic Heritage Month Fact-A-Day. Two Hispanic countries will be highlighted each week this month on the activity board across from business services in the ESED wing.
Sept. 15
TR Campus will hold a kickoff event for its Hispanic Heritage Month recognitions at 11 a.m. in Trinity Plaza. Free lunch will be served to the first 100 participants.
Sept. 15-Oct. 15
TR Campus recognizes Hispanic Heritage Month with a book display in the library, a gallery of Hispanic employees in the World Lounge and a student gallery on Main Street.
Sept. 16
Dr. Walter Richmond, University of Texas at Arlington history professor, will join SE Campus 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. in the North Ballroom for an interactive question-and-answer session on Diez y Seis, Mexican Independence Day. A flamenco dance by David and Isabel Quintana, who form the El Patio Flamenco dance group, will follow.
Sept. 22
Dr. Cynthia Orozco, historian and motivational speaker, will be on NE Campus to speak about her book No Mexicans, Women, or Dogs Allowed: The Rise of the Mexican American Civil Rights Movement. The event, sponsored by student activities, will be 12:30-1:30 p.m. in NSTU Center Corner.

SE Campus student activities will show a movie, whose title has not yet been selected, 2:30-3:50 p.m. in The Bistro.
Sept. 27
GUAFA Group, a Latin American classical music group from Colombia, will perform 10-11:15 a.m. in the North Ballroom on SE Campus. The event is sponsored by the humanities, government and world languages departments.
Sept. 28
University of Texas at Arlington political science professor Jose Angel Gutierrez will speak about Hispanic Leadership in the 20th Century. The event, sponsored by the Organization of Latin American Students and student activities, will be 12:30-1:30 p.m. in Center Corner (NSTU 1615A) on NE Campus.
Sept. 29
Dr. Ed Perez and Rebecca Balcarcel of the NE English department will perform original poetry and music inspired by Balcarcel’s book Palabras In Each Fist. The performance will take place from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in Center Corner (NSTU 1615A).
Sept. 30
The Hispanic Women’s Network of Fort Worth will hold a presentation on the impact of Latina higher education at noon in Action A on TR Campus.
Oct. 5, 8
Dr. Juan Araujo, assistant professor from the University of North Texas at Dallas, will present Writing Your Heritage workshops at 1 p.m. in the SE Campus library (ESED 1213A). The workshops will help students explore their culture and family heritage. The first workshop will focus more on the how-to techniques.
