TR Campus recognizes Hispanic Heritage Month with a book display in the library, a gallery of Hispanic employees in the World Lounge and a student gallery on Main Street.

Dr. Cynthia Orozco, historian and motivational speaker, will be on NE Campus to speak about her book No Mexicans, Women, or Dogs Allowed: The Rise of the Mexican American Civil Rights Movement. The event, sponsored by student activities, will be 12:30-1:30 p.m. in NSTU Center Corner.

SE Campus student activities will show a movie, Stand and Deliver, 2:30-3:50 p.m. in The Bistro.
Sept. 27
Guafa Trio, a Latin American classical music group from Colombia, will perform 10-11:15 a.m. in the North Ballroom on SE Campus. The event is sponsored by student activities and the humanities, government and world languages departments.

A Hispanic Heritage book talk will be held at 12:30 p.m. in the library on TR Campus. Spanish instructor Janet Rodriguez, associate professor of psychology Hector Menchaca and vice president of continuing education Robert Muñoz are confirmed readers.

Robert Tinajero and Christina Martinez will host the Hispanic Heritage Month Read–In in the library on South Campus 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Faculty and staff are invited to attend and participate in readings of literary works relating to Hispanic culture. Refreshments will be provided.

University of Texas at Arlington political science professor Jose Angel Gutierrez will speak about Hispanic Leadership in the 20th Century. The event, sponsored by the Organization of Latin American Students and student activities, will be 12:30-1:30 p.m. in Center Corner (NSTU 1615A) on NE Campus.

Dr. Ed Perez and Rebecca Balcarcel of the NE English department will perform original poetry and music inspired by Balcarcel’s book Palabras In Each Fist. The performance will take place from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in Center Corner (NSTU 1615A).

Dr. John Menchaca will speak about diabetes in the Hispanic community. Menchaca specializes in the treatment of children with kidney disorders. His speech will be at noon in the TRTR Energy Auditorium on TR Campus.
Sept. 30
The Hispanic Women’s Network of Fort Worth will hold a presentation on the impact of Latina higher education at noon in Action A on TR Campus.
Oct. 5, 12
Dr. Juan Araujo, assistant professor from the University of North Texas at Dallas, will present Writing Your Heritage workshops at 1 p.m. in the SE Campus library (ESED 1213A). The workshops will help students explore their culture and family heritage. The first workshop will focus more on how-to techniques.

Abrazando al Exito, a fun-filled evening of events and guest speakers for students from all campuses, will be held 6-8:30 p.m. on TR Campus. Students may register at tccd.volunteerhub.com.
