Louise Appleman was elected the new president of TCC’s board of trustees.

Shortly after the meeting began, then-president Bill Greenhill informed everyone that the board had to nominate and elect officers. Trustee Robyn Winnett asked if it was possible to vote to leave the leadership as it currently was which would have left Greenhill as president.

Greenhill said the district’s lawyer had said each position had to be elected individually.

Winnett nominated Greenhill. Vice-president Kristin Vandergriff nominated Appleman.

The vote proceeded, and Appleman received the majority and took her seat as president to preside over the rest of the election and meeting.

“Before we move on, Mr. Greenhill, I’d like to thank you for your service,” she said. “We owe Mr. Greenhill a debt of gratitude for his service in this chair.”

“Thank you,” he said. “I enjoyed it.”

O.K. Carter then nominated Vandergriff as vice-president. With no other nominations for the position, she was elected. Carter was elected secretary, and trustee Conrad Heede was elected assistant secretary.
