TCPH will address the adverse effects of tobacco use and the challenges of quitting.
“The argument that it is too late to quit smoking because the damage is already done is untrue,” according to a Smokeout brochure.
Smoking not only increases the individual’s risk of disease and premature death, but the risks of those around the smoker as well. Smoking takes nearly half a million lives in America every year, according to the brochure.
Established by the American Cancer Society in 1977, the Great American Smokeout is held the third Thursday in November to diminish the acceptance of smoking as a social norm and encourage smokers to use the date to plan to quit.
The SE presentation will be held 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in ESEE 1334.
