Motivational speaker to encourage etiquette at NE Campus luncheon

NE Campus will hold an Etiquette Luncheon Dec. 7 to help students impress friends, employers and dinner guests with professionalism, style and grace, organizers said.

Carolyn Brooks, president of Simply Divine Communications, will share her knowledge of etiquette and its impact on everyday lives.

“Etiquette is the key that unlocks the door to success,” Brooks said. “Etiquette is more than a set of rules to follow. It is a way of showing respect and love to others and to ourselves.”

Brooks is an author, motivational speaker and entrepreneur. She has made appearances on nationwide television, had several radio interviews and been on book signing tours. Brooks said her passion lies with motivating individuals from all walks of life to achieve the impossible, and she hopes to leave students equipped with knowledge that will help them gain confidence at dining events and have a competitive edge in job interviews.

“Many businesses are currently holding interviews over food, and we would like our students to have the skills required to make a good impression on their interviewers,” said Amity Womelsdorff, student development coordinator.

Dr. Paula Vastine, director of student services, said students will learn business lunch etiquette over a four-course meal.

“Good manners and proper interaction with society is part of our culture,” she said. “It indicates that a person has received a proper education.”

Fifty slots are available for the luncheon on a first-come, first-served basis.

Students must register at http://www.tccdne.volunteerhub.com to attend and must be dressed in business casual attire. The luncheon starts at 1:30 p.m. in NSTU 1615.
