With a year under its belt, TR Campus’ student life center is ready to kick off its second fall term, said the center’s director Michael Baumgardner.Despite the first year’s tough start with zero student organizations and few full-time services, Baumgardner said the TR Campus grew throughout the passing months. This fall’s calendar of events already consists of Welcome Week, several service projects, a fair for clubs and organizations, leadership summits, a Trick-or-Treat down Main Street, twice-weekly student success seminars and a health fair and blood/bone marrow drive.

“Our student organizations went from zero at the start of the semester to over 14 or so,” he said. “We did not have an active health services until late in the fall of the ’09 semester, which is now fully operational.”

Baumgardner said the academic success center also had a slow start.

“Our center for academic success was not fully operational until the spring semester, but our services and numbers have grown significantly,” he said.

Baumgardner said he and his staff are brainstorming for more ideas, but the calendar shows students are interested in student organizations.

“I’m really looking forward to gather ideas for programs directly from students rather than just relying on what we have seen be successful elsewhere,” he said.
