TREE hosts college prom to remember, form newer, better memories of formals

If students missed the chance to go to their high school prom, Trinity River Equality in Education is giving them a second chance April 21.

Travis Rhoads, a TR Campus student and TREE president, will coordinate the event and hopes to bring TCC students districtwide together for an evening of fun.

“Our point for the event is for students, plus a date, to come partake in this safe environment and enjoy a night of dancing and fun,” he said.

The Second Chance Prom is for all people to attend whether they didn’t like the prom they attended before, want to go again or never had the opportunity to go in high school.

It is also a place for same-sex couples to be themselves and bring the date they never took to their previous prom.

TREE members hope this event will show fellow students how much they care about them and illustrate the overall diversity of the organization’s students and faculty.

The Second Chance Prom will be held 7-11 p.m. in the TR Campus Café. Parking will be available on the third and fourth floors of the TR parking garage.

Food, music and drinks will be provided for the occasion, and the theme for the prom is “space.”

Tickets are $10 for singles and $15 for a couple. Tickets are available at the door, but advanced purchase can be made to TREE 8 a.m.-3 p.m. on TR or by PayPal to travis.rhoads@my.tccd.edu. Students who purchase tickets ahead of time need to take their receipts to exchange for a wristband at the event.
