South to hold auto show April 14

South Campus’ automotive department will host the Painless Performance Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Regional Engine Challenge and the Arlington Area Street Rodders Car Show 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. April 14 in the Automotive Building.Teams for the challenge will consist of automotive technology high school students. Four wildcard teams and eight event winners will compete for the national championship.

Past winners were offered college scholarships.

This year’s winner will be invited to participate in the annual Showdown at the SEMA national championship held in November in Las Vegas.

The engine challenge gives auto tech students the chance to showcase their talents and knowledge gained during classroom and workshop sessions. Students will get the chance to develop teamwork, demonstrate skills and build confidence and will promote development of students for the race and performance industry.
