The SE dance program will host its sixth annual concert Oct. 28-29.
Dance Works will feature the SE student dance ensemble, the Rhapsody Movement Company, the SE dance faculty and special guest Dallas Black Dance Theatre II, a company under the direction of Nycole Ray.
“The students in the RMC start rehearsals for the concert at the beginning of the semester and since have put in six to 10 hours of rehearsal per week,” said SE dance instructor Jamie Perrin. “Back in September, the RMC dancers had the pleasure of working with New York-based choreographer Max Jones, who set his choreography on some of the company dancers.”
Jones’ choreography will be performed in the portion of the show titled, “Don’t Be Afraid,” a dance about the fear of being in relationships.
Perrin said having the company as a guest has been in the works for almost a year. She is thrilled the SE student dance ensemble will have the opportunity to share the stage with a professional company.
“The audience will be able to watch dances being performed in various styles of dance including jazz, hip-hop, modern, contemporary and tap,” she said. “There will be something for everyone to enjoy.”
The SE concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in C.A. Roberson Theatre. TCC students, faculty and staff may attend at no cost. Ticket sales will start at 6 p.m. on show nights. General admission is $5. For further information, contact Perrin at 817-515-3056 or jamie.perrin@tccd.edu.
