Hiring police officers is expected to increase 7 percent nationwide in this decade, the assistant coordinator of the criminal justice training center told NW students Sept. 10.
In his session Careers in Criminal Justice, Scott Donaldson listed the top five growth rates in the criminal justice field. Paralegal ranked at the top of the list with a growth rate of 28 percent.
The remainder of the jobs were private investigator, forensic science technician, probation officer and correctional treatment specialist — all programs offered at TCC.
Teresa Cardoza came to “learn about the options” she had in the field and later stated that it was “very informative.”
Crystal Sherie Brown, a criminal justice student who is new to Texas, said she found the speech informative.
“I hoped to learn about the career options that they offer here in Texas,” she said.
Brown said she learned about her options as well as the breakdown of different criminal justice careers and salaries in Texas.
