SE Campus students met at the sand volleyball court where a fitness obstacle course was set up and hip-hop music played Sept. 25.
Traci Stonum, a SE Campus physical education instructor, organized the event. Stonum said previous obstacle courses have been a great success and the students enjoyed them. The course included activities such as push-ups over an exercise ball, jumping rope and running on sand.
Jessica Boyer was one of the SE Campus student participants.
“I am looking forward to doing this,” she said.
“It looks like fun. Plus, I’m getting P.E. extra credit.”
Stonum said students took part for a variety of reasons.
“Most students do it because it is offered as extra credit in their health and physical education classes,” Stonum said. “Some students do it just for fun of doing the obstacle course. Some come to try and beat their times from the previous semester.”
Stonum said the event also offered a chance for students to socialize with each other and relax.
SE student Eduardo Martinez found the course difficult.
“It was a good workout, harder than I thought,” he said.
