The TCC Wildcats and New Era tied for first place with two points each during week one of the NW Campus three-week soccer league.

Last Minute beat Quicksilver 6-1 in the only complete game played Oct. 8.

Last Minute’s Alan Reyes scored first. Less than a minute later, teammate Matias Zeita’s heel tap slid behind the goalkeeper and into the net.

Zeita scored three more times for Last Minute, including one goal battled in while double-teamed by the opposing goalkeeper and a defender.

Quicksilver’s only goal came from Alex Orozco’s second-half shot, and Reyes scored the game’s final goal for Last Minute.

Choco-Taco Dos forfeited its Oct. 8 game against the TCC Wildcats for lack of players.

The TCC Wildcats won both the forfeited point and the for-fun game it played against a team patched together of Choco-Taco Dos players and bystanders.

The Killer Kleats also forfeited, and a closely contested for-fun game was waged between two well-matched, hard-playing teams. New Era won the for-fun game and the forfeited point.

On Oct. 6, CD Olympia won its match 4-2 over the Killer Kleats, the Hot Shots beat the Sidekicks 4-2, and the TCC Wildcats defeated Team Awesome 5-3.

Choco-Taco Uno tied the Hot Shots 1-1 Oct. 7. Quicksilver forfeited to Ramrod, and New Era got a point after CD Olympia forfeited.

“I’ve had a lot of fun and met some really cool people,” Zeita said.

He met most of his teammates recently when extra players were thrown into a team at the last minute.

New Era’s Khristian Araneda thinks the for-fun games are worth playing, “especially when you have a fan,” he said, hugging a friend who had come to watch his game.
