NW dance club holds Halloween Monster Mash

NW Campus students can put on their boogie shoes and Halloween costumes and get down next week.

Northwest Dance Club will sponsor the Monster Mash Dance-A-Thon, a fundraiser for the Tarrant County Children’s Assessment Center, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 28 in WHPE 1103 on NW Campus.

Amy Sleigh, dance associate professor, said the event is open to all TCC students, faculty and staff.

The dance studio will be turned into a dance club, and every hour will feature a new dance from a different era, starting with the ’60s and ending with the ’80s. Dance club members will find sponsors to raise money for the day with either a toy or a $1 donation.

At 1 p.m., Lacreacia Sanders’ troupe, The Mosaic Dance Company, will teach Michael Jackson’s Thriller dance routine.

Sleigh said since the fundraiser precedes Halloween, door prizes will be given to anyone in a costume.

Before Christmas break, the dance club will visit the Assessment Center to distribute toys. This year, they hope to teach dance to the children.

The Assessment Center is an emergency shelter for children who have been removed from their homes because of abuse and neglect.
