NW plans lunch to honor veterans

NW Campus students will honor former and current students in the military for Veterans Day Nov. 11.

Dr. Laura Wood, professor of history and government, will host a Veterans Day luncheon for student veterans. Wood said it was to honor and thank students on NW Campus who have served in the armed forces.

Dr. Mike Nichols, professor of history, will sponsor a student-led dedication ceremony in front of the Remembrance Wall. Several current and former NW student veterans will speak. Speakers for the dedication have yet to be named.

At sundown, Cornerstone honor students will read all the names on the Remembrance Wall as a dedication to the fallen soldiers.

The luncheon will be at noon Nov. 11 in the Michael Saenz Conference Room. Student veterans must RSVP by Nov. 9 to Wood by e-mail at laura.wood@tccd.edu. However, only 30 spots are available, so Wood suggested students respond early.

The dedication ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. in front of the Remembrance Wall in the WTLO courtyard. For more information about the dedication ceremony, contact Nichols at michael.nichols@tccd.edu.
