Law Abiding Citizen stars Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler as they have their differences about justice.
Clyde Shelton (Butler) seeks vengeance for the death of his family and revenge on the city of Philadelphia. The action starts off fast. Two burglars duct tape Clyde and then kill his wife and child.
Nick Rice (Foxx) is the prosecuting attorney for the trial. Nick tells Clyde that he made a deal with one of the suspects, Clarence Darby, to testify on his partner for a 10-year plea bargain.
Clyde wants both men to face the death penalty, but Nick says, “Some justice is better than no justice. It’s not what you know, but what you can prove in court.”
Ten years later, the death penalty to the wrong man goes wrong. Darby is free, and Clyde is looking for revenge. Darby is tortured and killed, and Clyde quickly becomes a suspect.
Nick is called back on the scene and interrogates Clyde, who says Nick needs to do the right thing or else.
Clyde admits to killing Darby and is put in jail. In the meantime, one of Nick’s colleagues is killed after each warning.
Think of the notorious traps the Saw movies are known for and apply that to this movie.
Nick suspects Clyde, but he can’t figure out how Clyde could keep out of jail.
Law Abiding Citizen is a thriller that keeps viewers guessing. As usual, Foxx and Butler do not disappoint.
